Intranet

Client: The National Geographic Society has inspired people to care about the planet since 1888. It is one of the world’s largest non-profit scientific and educational institutions. Its interests include geography, archaeology, natural science, and the promotion of environmental and historical conservation.

Overview: National Geographic recognized the need to make collaboration and communication easier between its robust global employee and partner network by improving and enhancing its own internal intranet.

Solution: Lead the research and design to create a world-class, top-notch intranet. Based upon an Ektron.NET CMS backend, I designed prototypes, mockups, and hundreds of pages of wireframes to ensure the intranet was highly usable and functional. This was the winner of the Nielsen Norman Group 2014 Intranet Design Award and Ektron’s Site of the Year 2014 for the Intranet/Portal category.
